Sortudo completed a short-priced first and last race double for champion trainer Willie Mullins at Tramore when landing odds of 2/5 in the Garrarus Beach (Ladies Pro/Am) Flat Race.
The Authorized gelding filled the runner-up spot on his only point-to-point start for Sam Curling last spring and made an impressive start here under Rules.
Jody Townend ’s mount stretched clear in the final furlong to beat Pounds At A Time by five and a half lengths with Runcok in third.
Patrick Mullins said afterwards, “Authorized is a brilliant sire and Jody did well to get him settled. I think there should be a lot of improvement in him.
“He’s an exciting horse going forward and will probably stay in bumpers this year.
“We’ll see how he comes out of the race and look at Leopardstown over Christmas. He could be at the top end of our bumper horses.” Karniquet ridden by Jody’s brother Paul, also caught the eye when taking the opening maiden hurdle on the card.
