Twenty year old Jonathan Moore registered his first winner when steering the Mickey Cleary trained Couleur De La Loi to win the Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle at Tipperary today.
Moore moved Couleur De La Loi to lead at the final fence and while not fluent at that obstacle, stayed on well for a length and three parts win over Springfield Way.
Couleur De La Loi was having his photo taken for the first time following the win, having gained his previous win at Clonmel in 2011, when the winner was later disqualified due to a failed drug sample.
Moore, from Adamstown, Co Wexford, was gaining just rewards for a recent move to Larne, Co Antrim based trainer Stuart Crawford and jockey later stated “I was previously based with Colm Murphy in Wexford but moved to Stuart's yard at the tail end of March. When I return home, it's a four hour drive from my home place.
He added “I'm beginning to get regular rides now and Gary Cribbin is my agent.
“Couleur De La Loi travelled away lovely and jumped great apart from the last. I always knew he's get there and he won snug enough in the end.”
