The 6/4 favourite Mighty Meggsie landed the Go Racing In Kildare Mares Handicap Hurdle under Robbie Power.

The daughter of Arakan, successful in a maiden hurdle at Down Royal on her previous start, tracked the leaders racing keenly before being produced to challenge in the straight.

She disputed the lead with Elegant Lass over the final flight and forged clear on the run-in to beat that one by a length and three quarters with the front-running Kitty Galore another two and a half lengths away in third.

Winning trainer Jessica Harrington said: “She’s full of herself and it’s great for the Queallys to have a winner here at their local track in Punchestown.

“Hopefully we can find another contest like that as soon as possible and she won’t be as fresh as that. She likes good ground.

“She’s hard on herself when she’s fresh like that. She gives Robert (Power) a hard time.”
