Medley Rocks his rivals in mile & half handicap
From the immediate family of horses such as Napper Tandy and Zavaleta and plenty of other successful Coolcullen horses, Rock Medley did Jim Bolger another turn when landing the T.P. Walsh Memorial Handicap under Kevin Manning at Listowel.
The son of Rock Of Gibraltar, also bred and owned by the Bolgers, saw off Big Occasion by a length and three parts with a neck back to the third placed Lizzie Bennett Fourth place was taken by the gambled-on favourite, Park Ranger (6/1 this morning into 2/1).
Afterwards Ger Flynn, representing Bolger, said: "He'd be about the only one we have that hasn't got an Irish name but he is progressive, very tough and game. It was his first time over the trip which helped."
Meanwhile Manning commented: "He did it nice and the ground is soft, tacky and holding out there."
