McNamara seen to good effect
Ger Lyons recorded his 15th winner of the season at Dundalk after his charge Rockazar carried top weight to win the ‘3 For Free’ - Wednesdays Night in November Apprentice Handicap.
Emmett McNamara hit the front on the Opening Verse gelding inside the final furlong and kept on well to hold off the late challenge of Lord Kenmare by a short head.
Shane Lyons brother of winning trainer said afterwards: “He must of known he was going into retirement if he didn’t win.”
“He was quietly fancied at home as he’s been working well and he ran a cracker the last day but he was going out to the paddocks if he didn’t win this evening.”
“We needed that winner too as it puts us two clear of Michael Halford for the leading trainer title around here.”
