An enterprising ride down the centre of the track by Niall McCullagh paid dividends as he landed The Lynn Lodge Maiden over a mile and two furlongs at Navan on board King’s Warrant (3/1 from 9/2 in the morning).
The pair prevailed by a short head from 4/6 favourite Encrypted Message and Pat Smullen on the rail.
Ger Lyons trained the winner and he said: “He wouldn’t be in love with the ground but it was a canny ride. He was a bit keen down the back. It was a good brave performance.
“We like him but he is in the July sales. He could be a jumping man’s dream. It took us a while to win with him but he didn’t handle Wexford.”
Aidan O’Brien’s Beach Of Falesa took third under Colm O’Donoghue a further three and three parts of a length back.
Edge Of Sanity and Nashville were both non-runners due to the change in going.
