Trainer David Marnane registered a 1-2 in the opening www.dundalkstadium.com Handicap at Dundalk this evening, with his Almadaa leading home stablemate Harry Trotter
Nine to four favourite Almadaa, ridden by Fergal Lynch, was short of racing room for much of the straight but eventually found room inside the final furlong to edge ahead for a three parts of a length win.
Marnane was not present but Lynch later said “David (Marnane) said he was in great form and I let him make the choice about which one I rode - to be honest I'd have gone for Harry Trotter!
Regarding the lack of racing room in the straight, Lynch added “I'd so much horse under me but I had to just sit and suffer. Thankfully the gap came in time and he did it well.”
