Pat Mangan came in for the winning spare ride on the Eoin Doyle trained Chebona Bula (20/1) in the Tramore Racecourse Supporters Club Beginners Chase at Tramore today, substituting for Adam O'Neill who was injured earlier in the day.
O'Neill was 'jocked up' on Chebona Bula but suffered a suspected fractured wrist following a heavy fall from Famous Ballerina in the opener.
Mangan stepped in for the 'spare' and produced the son of Haafhd to lead before two out. The pair were well clear when steadied on the run to the final fence, but eventually ran out the comfortable winner over Pigeon Creek
Afterwards Doyle stated “that was a bit of a shock – he had form from a while ago but I'd say he has just gone slow and I'd say he might need that trip. The blinkers seemed to have set him alight too.”
