They jumped eight instead of the intended fourteen flights in the Follow @TipperaryRaces On Twitter Maiden Hurdle. That'll matter little to connections and backers of 4/1 victor Lyreen Lad
The sun saw the hurdles down the back omitted in this three miler, and the Jack Kennedy-ridden Lyreen Lad landed out over the final jump on 'all fours' as Foxearth gave chase.
Backed from 6/1 into 4/1 the Tony Martin-trained Lyreen Lad was tough up the run-in to fend off Foxearth by a length and a half.
Odds-on favourite Getaway Kid finished five lengths back in third.
"He's a lovely, big, old fashioned chasing type and ran really well at Limerick the last day on heavy ground," said Martin.
"He is only after coming to himself in the last month or two and we always knew he wanted a trip but we didn't want to rush him too soon.
"He's a big baby and will be a grand three mile chaser in time and we'll leave him off for the summer now."
