Newcomer Miss Elizabeth caused a 16/1 upset to win the opening Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Auction Maiden at Fairyhouse today, winning for trainer Eddie Lynam, his owner wife Aileen Lynam and jockey Wayne Lordan.
The daughter of Intense Focus showed plenty bravery on debut to edge to the front along the running rail inside the final furlong, for a neck win over 6/4 favourite Mint Chai
Trainer Eddie Lynam later said "it was a good ride by Wayne and she did it well and took advantage of all the allowances."
He added "I don't know what sort of race it was but that will keep the owner happy!"
Aileen Lynam purchased the filly for E7,500 at Tattersalls Ireland last September, with Miss Elizabeth collecting E10,350 for today's win.
