Eddie Lynam's Magic Bear made a winning handicap debut in the Summer Ladies Day Apprentice Handicap at Navan today as the close relation to the trainer’s Group 1 winner Slade Power today scored under jockey Oisin Orr.
The daughter of Kodiac had previously won her maiden at Dundalk in October and today reappeared in fine fettle, from a rating of 75, when quickening well in the final furlong for a comfortable win over Jenniechild
Lynam later stated “we'll keep in the handicaps - fillies' handicaps sprints. That's half the population ruled out! I think there's one in the north (around the) Ulster Derby. We'll stick to the handicapping route for the time being.
"The dam (Good To Follow) won a premier handicap for us in the Curragh and is a half sister to the dam of Slade (Power). It's all that family."
