The Colm Murphy trained Luna Runner caused a 16/1 upset in the Hugo Duncan Raceday Maiden Hurdle at Downpatrick today.

Ridden by capable amateur rider Mikey Fogarty, the daughter of Definite Article led on the run-in before eventually holding the challenge of Mighty Snazy

Murphy was not present and Barry O’Driscoll, from Enniscorthy, and member of the Sawdust In Syndicate later said “she has been a bit unlucky and the extra couple of furlongs is what she wanted. Today was her day and she had been working well at home.”
