Henry De Bromhead and stable conditional jockey Mike O'Connor teamed up to land the Listed Bar One Racing Easter Handicap Hurdle at Cork.
Off the track since an uncharacteristically poor showing at Leopardstown over Christmas, the seven-year-old returned to something like his best here in recording his fifth career success. Chosen Witness set the fractions in this 2m3f contest, with race favourite De Capo Glory in his slipstream. The latter horse led three out but was soon headed by the eventual winner who took over on the run to the penultimate flight.
Quickening clear on the run to the last, the De Bromhead gelding stayed on strongly to land odds of 10/1.
Winning jockey Mike O'Connor said: "He is a lovely horse and, bar the last day at Leopardstown last Christmas, is consistent. It was a step up in grade today but he seemed to do it well and has a nice attitude.
"You could put through his Leopardstown run as he doesn't rally stay all that well but is good at this intermediate distance. He has a great attitude, his jumping is really good and is a straightforward horse."
