Three year old Loom Large (9/1) defeated older and more experienced rivals to narrowly win the concluding 13-runner Junior Einsteins Apprentice Handicap at Naas today, for trainer Andy Oliver and jockey Robert Whearty..
Unplaced in four previous runs and having his first start since being gelded, the son of Acclamation raced with the pace and poked his nose in front at the line, to defeat Alma Libre by a head.
Bellewstown jockey Whearty was Summer Festival Ambassador for that racecourse in June and today reported “we didn’t go very fast. I jumped well and got a lovely position and he travelled and picked up into the straight.
“In fairness he’s tough and tries hard. I’d love to thank Andy for putting me up on him.”
