Icy Lady (Kevin Manning) stays on well from the promising newcomer She's A Pistol

Icy Lady followed in the hoof-prints of her dam, Kitty Kiernan, successful in this race back in 2009, when making it third time lucky in the Dragon Pulse European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden at Naas.
With the advantage of experience, Kevin Manning was happy to have the New Approach chestnut near the front throughout and she stuck on resolutely to seal the issue inside the final furlong.
Odds-on favourite Timbuktu (found to be lame post race), with whom Icy Lady had three parts of a length to find on a meeting over a furlong less at this venue sixteen days ago, had every chance but faded disappointingly when the need was greatest to finish fourth.
It was left to a pair of promising first-timers, She's A Pistol and Blue Fragrance to chase home Icy Lady at distances of two and a half lengths and one and a quarter lengths.
Winning trainer Jim Bolger remarked: "She'll hopefully come back here for the listed race (Coolmore Stud Sprint Stakes). Then she could go to Ascot.
"We're happy enough with her over six furlongs." (GC & EM)
