- Last draws the diamond
Last draws the diamond
There was plenty of cash for Last Draw despite his long odds on in the Diamond Vision Novice Hurdle and those that were on at 2/9 were happy when he took the lead travelling well after two out. He ultimately went on under David Casey to see to off Daneva by four lengths.
The latter threw down her challenge under pressure in the straight but in truth her pursuit of Last Draw always looked like it would be in vain and she ended up with a length and a quarter to spare over the third-placed Teve Na Mara
Successful trainer, Charlie Swan said of the Trotters Ind. Trading Syndicate gelding (their Over The First won 13 races with Swan): "They went a nice gallop there so I was a bit worried about his fitness. He hadn't run for a good while (152 days). He idles a bit in front. He is going to make a lovely chaser in time. He might have one or two more hurdle runs before he goes chasing around Christmas. He'll get further."
