Landmark winner for Keane
Pony racing champion Colin Keane partnered his first winner under rules when successful aboard No Trimmings trained by his father Gerry, in division two of the Crowne Plaza Leading Jockey & Trainer Championship Handicap.
The 16-year-old was having just his seventh ride on the track but has ridden 85 winners on the pony racing circuit, and was seen to good effect here on the four-year-old filly.
She was driven to the front inside the final furlong, and kept on well to beat Via Mia by a length with Oversighted a further length and three quarters back in third.
“We thought a lot of her last year but she has been very disappointing this year. Maybe Colin's 10lb claim made the difference,” said proud trainer Gerry Keane afterwards.
