Krystle sparkles for the Hogans
The Hogan father and son team of Martin and Denis enjoyed a success to remember as the owner and in the latter's case trainer and rider of Kylebeg Krystle gambled-on (9s into 11/2) winner of the Strandhill Mares Beginners Steeplechase at Sligo.
A course winner, the daughter of Oscar closed down on the pace-setting Ciaras Lady going to the last and she went on to beat Young Milly (mistake at the last) by three parts of a length. Ciaras Lady (20s in the morning into 10/1) finished third whilst the favourite, Brave Betsy on her first start since April and her first for Joanna Morgan, could manage only fourth.
Denis Hogan said: "I was a bit worried about fitness but she held on well."
This was Kylebeg Krystle's first start for 196 days and her first over fences.
