Kilbane River in full flow
Kilbane River (4/1) ended a long losing run stretching back three years when storming through on the run-in to take the Garryowen Handicap Chase and provide rider Adrian Heskin with his first winner since returning recently from injury.
Heskin (19), on the sidelines for nearly six months with a knee problem, gave the ten-year-old a well judged ride coming through to head 7/2 favourite Conem after the last for a four and a quarter length success. Will Jamie Run (8/1) made a bold bid from the front but could find no extra after two out eventually finishing another six lengths away in third.
Winning trainer Joseph Quinn said, “He's been running respectably enough and had a light weight on his back today. Adrian gave him a good ride as they went a good pace, and he saved a bit of petrol.”
