Jetara easily justified odds of 4-7f when proving much too strong for the opposition in the opening Racing TV Black Friday Offer - Join For Just 12 Euros PM For An Entire Year Mares Maiden Hurdle at Fairyhouse.
The Jessica Harrington trained five-year-old, winner of a Listed bumper at Navan last November, had made a promising start to her hurdling career but struggled when stepped up in company on her latest three starts.
Dropped back into maiden class here, the Jack Kennedy ridden mare was always prominent in the chasing pack as Jazzie De Chaillac established a clear lead early on. The latter began to send out distress signals entering the home straight, as Kennedy closed right up, taking over before two out.
Sent on about her business, Jetara skipped clear to record an emphatic 16 length win. Kennedy, whose brother Paddy has been an integral part of the Harrington operation over many years, was enjoying a rare winner for the Kildare based trainer.
“It's lovely to get a maiden hurdle and she did it right today, she relaxed today,” said Harrington.
“In Down Royal she was like a lunatic over the first two and galloped straight into them.
“She actually schooled at the Curragh on Tuesday, jumped 12 hurdles, and it just took the edge off her.
“She went in the ground, heavy is not really for that family. She'll go along the mares route and it'll be two-and-a-half miles.
“She has black-type in bumpers and now we'll try and get black-type over hurdles for her, she's a beautifully bred filly.
“She's quite strong, she's not as small as the other ones. She's bigger than most of her family.
“She was like a little tiger today walking around here and it's great to get it.”
