Adrian Murray's Jaliyah was the only horse in the fillies' maiden at Cork with two runs to her name and the experience paid off as she struck by half a length at 7/1.

She showed good resolution to fend off a threatening Kitty Rickets in the closing stages and kept on best to go on from the 12/1 runner-up. Wemighttakedlongway (20/1) showed promise on debut, another half a length away.

Jaliyah was a keeping-on fourth on debut at the Curragh in a maiden that has worked out well, but wasn't as good on her next start in fifth over a shorter trip in Naas. This was a step up to a mile today.

Jockey Robert Whearty said: "She had a lovely run the whole way and I was able to let her roll up through them.

"She still does things a little wrong and was up in the air a small bit and it took her a few furlongs to get into a rhythm, but she quickened well.

"She is a nice filly, is plenty big and handled that ground well."
