In a first-time visor Inishmot Duchess certainly had her followers for the opening Floodlight Friday Nights At Dundalk Handicap and she delivered in good style under Ian Brennan (his first time riding the 5yo in a race).
Tom McCourt 's daughter of Medecis shortened up from 16/1 earlier in the day into a starting price of 8/1. However it must be stressed that the market-leading Sophies Echo ended up being a non-runner.
McCourt revealed after Inishmot Duchess accounted for Like Magic by a length and a quarter: "The first time she ran here over six furlongs I couldn't believe how bad she ran considering how she was working.
"The blinkers there made a difference. She has plenty of ability but I expected her to do that before now."
Once previously a winner – at Cork in the summer of 2011 – Inishmot Duchess is a daughter of Inishmot Lady – a three time winner for the same connections back between 2002 and 2004.
Farmleigh House has keeping the name of Inishmot Duchess' sire, Medecis, up in lights in recent times. (AM & EM)
