Apprentice jockey Tom Madden had his claim reduced to five pounds when steering the Tim Doyle trained Vasoni to win the Sligo GAA Race Day August 18th Handicap at Sligo today.
Madden sent the seven year old daughter of Redback into pursuit of the leaders before the home turn and the pair moved to the front inside the final furlong to comfortably beat Battleroftheboyne
Vasoni, who was recording her fifth career win and her third at the venue, was later reported by Doyle to be "she likes it around here. That's the way she loves it when they go quick and come back to her.
"If it stays soft she could run anywhere between six and seven furlongs."
He added "she was covered by Baltic King last week and hopefully is in foal."
Madden, who was riding his first winner for Doyle, added "I was a bit worried turning in as she was not really travelling but she's as tough as nails."
