India bound Lane doubles Morgan's score
Rory Cleary deputised for Willie Supple (see separate story) on Fourpenny Lane in the Listed Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fairy Bridge Stakes and he enjoyed a big win when getting Joanna Morgan's daughter of Efisio home by a length and a quarter.
On a good evening for Morgan (she had the previous dead-heat scorer Beauthea and saddled the fourth home here, Miss Gorica her charge Fourpenny Lane led a furlong and a half out and she saw off outsiders Blaze Brightly and Intapeace Gile Na Greine finished with one behind her. The favourite was beaten when hampered two furlongs out.
Morgan said: "The two fillies there were covered within a day of each other. Miss Gorica may run again on Sunday at the Curragh. Fourpenny Lane is in foal to Verglas and she is owned by Harresh Mehta from India (bought her for €100,000 at Goffs last year). She goes to India now and is probably the best filly in foal ever to be sent there."
