The Gerry Stack trained Oneoveryou caused a 20/1 upset to win the opening NewIrelandAssurance Kildare Chamber Maiden at Naas this evening, beating the 13/8 favourite Captain Power by a short-head and then surviving a subsequent Stewards Enquiry.
Ridden by Daniel Redmond, a seven pounds claimer based with Jim Bolger, Oneoveryou was belying her lowly 56 rating to win at the fourth attempt.
Captain Power didn't enjoy the clearest of passages inside the final furlong and was only beaten a short-head but the placings were confirmed after the Enquiry.
The result of the Enquiry was announced as Stack was being interviewed live on Attheraces and the overjoyed trained exclaimed "Jim Bolger will be delighted because I'm going to get very religious after this!"
He added "I'm nearly crying and if she was beaten I would be crying! She pulled a muscle early in the spring, and it was hard looking at such a lovely filly at home every day. But we just had to wait. She wants softer ground."
Oneoveryou's owner/breeder Michael O'Dea is from Cregcarragh, near Claregalway.
