Hot Bed on fire
The David Wachman trained Hot Bed overcame an 88 day layoff and a disappointing run on his latest start to cause a 16/1 upset in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Dundalk this evening.
The son of Sashing Blade, ridden by Seamie Heffernan, improved to lead on the outer a furlong out before staying on strongly close home for a comfortable length and a half win over Curia Regis
Afterwards Wachman reported by phone “Hot Bed had a very nice first run at Leopardstown behind Dragon Pulse but then in soft ground, which didn’t suit, at Roscommon. We then decided to wait for the all weather for him and he’s a smart colt who is still learning – he’ll make a nice three year old.”
Emmet McNamara sustained a serious laceration finger injury when his mount Fluidity was withdrawn having broken under the starting stalls, shortly before the off. The jockey has been taken to Lourdes Hospital at Drogheda.
