Jockey Sam James landed a double at Dundalk when steering home He’s Got Rhythm at 9/2 for trainer David Marnane.
The seven-year-old stayed on well in the seven furlong claimer for a length decision at 9/2 over Invincible Soul at 11/1. Shukov (9/2 from 15/1 at the track), who was 8th a furlong out, stayed on for third, two lengths behind Invincible Soul.
“He’s a grand old horse. I wouldn’t say it was the strongest race and the conditions suited him,” David Marnane said.
“If he stays with me he might go to Galway. Sam was very cool on him and is good value for his three-pound claim.”
David Marnane’s wife Melanie, who owns the horse, claimed him back in for 8,000 euro. Like Magic was the 7/2 favourite and finished fourth for Pat Martin and Pat Smullen.
