Hercule De Seuil readily landed the odds in the Lee Strand Novice Chase at Killarney when making all for a stylish victory in the hands of Jody McGarvey.
Trained by Willie Mullins for JP McManus, the French import has now won five of his seven starts for current connections and seems to be progressing with each run.
The 4/7 shot put in a fine round of jumping in this 2m1f event and stretched right away on the run-in to score by 13 lengths. Solness touched off Watch House Cross by a head for the runner-up spot.
Winning rider Jody McGarvey said, “He was very professional. He goes a nice gallop and has a high cruising speed.
“He relaxed away in front and measured his fences well. He kind of takes the sting out of them with his jumping. They struggle to get to him.
“Every day his jumping is getting better. He’s such a clever horse and is a joy to ride.
“I was going so fast down to the last that I was afraid to take him back and knock his momentum. I just let him at it because he was so good earlier and I had confidence in him to let him go forward and jump it.”
