Michael Halford saddled a one-two when Grand Heiress scored from Red Laser in the second division of the seven-furlong handicap at Dundalk.

Shane Foley made a bold bid from the front on Red Laser but couldn't hold the final furlong surge of his stable-mate.

Conor Hoban produced Grand Heiress with a well-timed challenge to record a convincing three-and-a-half length success.

The winner was making her first start since last December, having shown only glimpses of ability in maidens and nurseries.

"The horses are crying out for a bit of ground and we've been waiting and waiting," said Halford.

"She's a filly that showed a bit last year but trained off and lost her way. We gave her plenty of time this year.

"On some of her runs she was entitled to win and you're always glad to get a bracket with the fillies.

"The other lad ran his heart out as well."

A sustained on-course gamble on Boundless Joy trained by Tracey Collins was never in with a chance of being landed. The daughter of Montjeu was backed at all rates from 20/1 into a returned SP of 6/1, but never got in a blow finishing a moderate eighth.
