The Joe Murphy trained Hawkswood (20/1) was the second big priced winner at Dundalk this evening when overcame some uninspiring '0870-0' form figures to win the Dundalk Stadium on Facebook Handicap.
Ridden by Pat Smullen, the winner edged out the the hat-trick seeking Indian Scout by a head.
Afterwards Murphy said “Hawkswood had been disappointing me but I always thought a lot of him.
“A wind operation and a step up in trip seemed to do the job and if the handicapper isn't too hard on him he might win another one.”
