Hawk Eye Down caused a 25/1 shock when prominent throughout in the Boylesports Download Our App Handicap Chase at Thurles.
The lightly-raced nine-year-old won a point-to-point under trainer Paul Power’s fiancée Jeannie Cook at Ballinaboola in November but was generally unconsidered here on his first handicap start over fences.
The Bach gelding jumped well and asserted after two out under Donagh Meyler to beat the well-backed 5/2 favourite Luckyinmilan by five and a half lengths. Take The Cash was a further six lengths away in third, while Star Counsel completed the places in fourth.
