Khukri beating Spanish Tenor

The Jessica Harrington trained Khukri made it third time lucky when winning the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF (C&G) Maiden at the Curragh today, justifying 5/4 favouritism to win under jockey Colm O’Donoghue.
The son of Sepoy was to the fore throughout the six furlongs trip and in the end held the challenge of Spanish Tenor to win by half a length,
Harrington later stated “it’s nice to get that out of the way, and I’d say he won in spite of the ground. The 15mm of rain certainly didn’t help. I think he’s a Stakes horse but whether he runs again this season would depend on the ground.”
