Vadiana put her head in front late on to land the spoils in the €25,000 fillies handicap at Dundalk tonight, giving Michael Halford and Tracey Collins a double on the card.
Ronan Whelan, who had also been in the plate on Slieve Binnian earlier, held his mount up towards the rear early in the seven-furlong contest.
The 3/1 joint favourite was asked to chased the leaders a furlong-and-a-half from home and found a bit more close home as she got up to pip Pink Sorrel by half a length.
Vadiana was recording her second career success, having scored over a mile here last December.
Collins said: "We have always known that (this is her surface). We are very pleased with her.
"She has actually had a fairly good season without getting her head in front.
"I think she will come on from it, she hasn't been the easiest filly to train but I will say she has got very genuine and very honest. She is going the right way.
"She is a filly that we have always liked and it is good to get her head in front.
"The horses are running really well and they are in good order, so hopefully it will continue on.”
