Champion Trainer Willie Mullins and Champion Jockey Ruby Walsh combined for a win at Cork today, as Bamako Moriviere justified long odds-on (1/12) when making all to beat three rivals in the Online Sales @ corkracecourse.ie Hurdle.
The winner had previously carried top weight when 12th in the Galway Hurdle and while Mullins was absent today, jockey Walsh stated “we had toyed with the idea of going chasing with him but Willie spotted the race. He had such a tough task in the Galway Hurdle - top weight in it was always going to be hard, so it was nice to find a race for him to get his head back in front.
“He does handle good ground - his form wasn’t great last winter but he is stronger now and maybe he’ll handle it but I’d imagine unless we find another suitable hurdle race, he could go chasing.”
