Guiding and owner Neil Cox registered their first wins together at Fairyhouse today as the Shane Nolan trained three year old landed the Follow Fairyhouse On Social Media Handicap under jockey Conor Hoban.
By aptly named stallion Most Improved, Guiding had shown little in her initial starts but had shown progression on her previous two starts. Today the 45 rated filly got off the mark at the ninth attempt when beating Gatsby Cap by a length and a quarter.
Afterwards trainer Nolan said “she did well over the winter when she had a break, and I’m delighted for Neil (Cox, owner) as it’s his first horse.
“We thought she wanted an ease in the ground but the last day she never travelled on it at all and Chris Hayes said to look for better ground.
“She picked up well but was still very green when she hit the front. She’s in again on Saturday at Navan and if she gets a run we might go there. The way she travelled there I’m not sure if she would get a mile at Navan but we’ll see.”
