Clar Na Mionn clears the last at Roscommon from Abou Ben

Punters of the viewpoint that the summer is for flat racing dodged another result for the layers when Clar Na Mionn became the second 16/1 winner in as many races at Roscommon. He scored on his chasing bow in the Connaughton Auctioneers Beginners Chase for Val O'Brien and Adrian Heskin (fresh from his Limerick double yesterday).
In fairness Clar Na Mionn was over-priced given his decent hurdling form and here he led two out before coming out best in a three way battle from the back of the last – beating Abou Ben and Owega Star by half a length and a short head.
O'Brien divulged: "He'll probably go for a winner race at Killarney now and he jumps very well. He goes on any ground and is a real chaser.
"He'll have one more run before Galway and he'll stay novice chasing." (TW & EM)
