No winners in five years and then two in eight days for jockey Adam O’Neill as his partnership with Acriveen proves extremely fruitful.
Acriveen’s latest success came at Naas in the two mile three handicap hurdle at odds of 7/1. Seven pound claimer O’Neill guided his mount into the lead before the last and the pair kept up the gallop to score by two and a quarter lengths.
Twelve went to post and making the turn for home before two out a host of horses held chances in a very competitive contest. Turner Brown had been backed down to 11/4 favourite to give trainer Michael O’Hare a quick-fire double, but after cutting out the pace he faded to finish ninth. Dancing Tornado and Six Stone Ned came home second and third respectively at 9/1 and 7/1 with a short head between the two. Dancing Tornado had been 12/1 this morning.
John Berry 's Acriveen had picked up a five-pound penalty for winning under O’Neill at Fairyhouse in a two mile handicap hurdle on October 13.
