Gowran passes inspection
Today's meeting at Gowran Park, featuring the Grade 2 PricewaterhouseCoopers Champion Chase, will go ahead following an early morning inspection.
The meeting was placed in some doubt following significant rain during racing at the Co. Kilkenny track yesterday afternoon. However officials gave it the all-clear at 7.30am, and the going is described as soft.
The Henry de Bromhead-trained Sizing Europe winner of the Arkle Chase and the Queen Mother Champion Chase at the last two Cheltenham Festivals, faces four rivals in the feature. Rubi Light runaway winner of the Red Mills Chase over course and distance in February before going on to take third in the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham, and former Galway Plate hero Finger Onthe Pulse are also in the line-up.
The first of a seven race card gets underway at 2.20pm.
