Gorey seen to good effect
The opening race this afternoon The Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Claiming Race was won by Mutakarrim trained by Dermot Weld with Shane Gorey doing the steering in the familiar colours of Dr. Michael Smurfit.
Gorey afterwards said, "He's a champion I lost my 10 pound claim aboard him and that was a long time ago."
Gorey battled it all the way to the line with Noel Meade's Power Elite with Emmett McNamara in the saddle to hold on by a neck.
There were two horses claimed in the race the second placed horse Power Elite was claimed for ?10151.00 and Ray McGlinchey's Incline was claimed for ?12300.00.
