It was only an ordinary standard of fillies' maiden but well-supported debutant Goodie Two Shoes was undeniably impressive when quickening up well to win by four and three quarter lengths in the fifth at Killarney.

Backed from 9/2 this morning into 9/4, the daughter of Fastnet Rock looked to have lost her chance at the start when very slowly into stride but Declan McDonogh let her gradually get back into the race . Fifth turning for home, those ahead of Goodie Two Shoes were soon lined across the track but once switched out for her run two furlongs out, she soon put her stamp on proceedings. Honeycomb fared best of the rest in second.

It was a double for McDonogh, Joseph O'Brien and owner J P McManus after Didn'thavemuchtodo earlier and both winners are homebreds.

Assistant trainer Brendan Powell remarked: "He just said that she backed up in the stalls and for a minute he didn’t think she was actually going to come out. She’s been okay at home. She can be a little bit touchy.

"He said they didn’t go mad early. She’s travelled nicely all the way around. He said he just got up behind a couple of them turning in but came back on the bridle and once he asked her, she quickened up lovely and galloped all the way to the line. She’s a big filly, she’s still green, but she’s done it well, and she might be okay."
