Golden Silver lands gamble in Arkle
The outsider of four Golden Silver landed some tidy bets when getting the better of a titanic tussle with Forpadydeplasterer in the Grade 1 Arkle Perpetual Challenge Cup Novice Chase.
The winner was backed in the morning from 25/1 all the way into a returned price of 9/1.
Paul Townend had Golden Silver on the pace throughout and got a terrific response from his mount when narrowly headed by joint favourite Forpadydeplasterer after the last. The ride was particularly impressive as Townend had to use his whip in his left hand throughout the closing stages.
Willie Mullins, who also saddled the disappointing joint favourite Jayo intends running both in the equivalent Cheltenham contest.
Golden Silver is quoted at 20/1 for The Arkle at Cheltenham with both Paddy Power and Sean Graham bookmakers.
