Glenfinn Captain impresses at Clonmel
The feature race of the day The Clonmel Oil Chase was won by the Tom Taaffe trained Glenfinn Captain ridden by Barry Geraghty and owned by J P McManus.
Geraghty raced the Alderbrook gelding in behind the leader, improved to lead approaching two and kept on well to win by a comfortable 5 lengths.
Taaffe said afterwards, "This horse had colic in January 2007 and it was touch and go with him, he nearly died. Obviously he is coming back to himself and I'd like to thank J P [McManus] for being very patient and letting me do my own thing. We'll have to think about where to go next, The Boyle Sports Gold Cup at Cheltenham in December is a possibility."
