Gigginstown House Stud introduced another winning bumper newcomer today as their Gordon Elliott-trained Speculatrix (4/6f) landed Punchestown's concluding See You At Festival 2023 Bumper under jockey Harry Swan.
Gigginstown's Brighterdaysahead was an impressive winning debutante on Saturday and today Speculatrix, by No Risk At All, scored despite being caught flat-footed for a brief period in the home straight.
Jockey Swan said “she's a lovely filly and I thought she battled well. The ground was probably a little bit tacky for her and she'd probably want a bit looser ground.
“We didn't go much of a gallop early on and then we started to sprint.
“She turned into the straight really well but when they all start sprinting down that hill, it's hard to get away from other horses. But she battled back well and looks like a nice one going forward.”
Trainer Elliott was earlier successful with Grade 3 winner Queens Brook while it was another notable success for Gigginstown's new generation, being a sixth win from 14 bumper runners this season.
