The Big Getaway completed a quick treble at Naas this afternoon for Willie Mullins and Paul Townend when running out an easy winner of the INH Stallion Owners EBF Maiden Hurdle.
A mistake at the last had cost him dear on his hurdling debut at Leopardstown over Christmas but he made no mistake today.
Sent off a 2/5 shot he was soon in front in the two-mile-three contest. A fine leap at the second last sealed matters as he soon scooted clear of his rivals.
The Getaway gelding powered home from the last to record an easy 17 length success over Foxy Jacks
Mullins said:- “A much more positive approach today paid off for us and the horse loves jumping.
“I thought it was a tremendous performance and he galloped all the way to the line.
“I’d imagine we’ll be looking at the Ballymore for him. He handled that ground well and I’d imagine a big horse like him would always prefer it but I’m not making him ground dependent at the moment anyway.”
BoyleSports cut the winner from 50/1 into 25/1 for the Ballymore Novice Hurdle while he was introduced at the same price by Paddy Power. Betfair make him a 20/1 chance.
