Formal Bid mows down market leaders
Ray Dawson came with with a sustained run on Formal Bid (4/1) to cut down 11/4 joint favourites Unique Style and Johnnys Legacy in the last 100 yards to win going away by three parts of a length in Dundalk's closing one mile four furlong handicap.
Charles O’Brien the successful trainer said: “All he does is stay. One mile four furlongs is his minimum.
“He stayed on well, loves that surface and it can’t be too quick for him.
“The owner Michael Keating is very keen to go to Galway. The two mile handicap on the Saturday would suit him well.”
Dawson, who was winning on the four-year-old son of Oratorio for the second time in a week, said: “That’s brilliant. I thought he was going to be short of room turning in but he quickened brilliantly.
“He has come on so much recently.”
