No doubt Kilkenny's demolition of Cork at Thurles yesterday brought a smile to the face of Shane Foley and the Graiguenamanagh native had further cause for joy at the Curragh today when he completed a 69/1 double on Ondeafears in the Newbridge Credit Union Handicap.
Thirty five minutes after his big Group 3 success on Gossamer Seed Foley could be picked out from a long way out travelling well aboard Ondeafears in the seven furlong all-aged handicap. Eventually the successful daughter of Chineur beat Winning Impact by three and a half lengths.
Michael Halford trains Ondeafears and he said: "The ground helped her turn the tables (on Olfa second behind that one at Leopardstown 22 days ago. Olfa finished third here).
"She'll go for a fillies handicap at Gowran now and she's real straight-forward and genuine.
"That'll be a welcome tonic for the owner (Carol Roper). She gets a great buzz out of watching her horses but she's unwell at the moment and was unable to make it here." (TW & EM)
