Jockey Shane Foley completed a treble at Leopardstown today when steering Katiymann to win the concluding Leopardstown Summer Membership Handicap for his employer Michael Halford, for whom he steered first and last race winners.
The pair began the afternoon with slow starting but fast finishing Irishcorrespondent, winner of the opening maiden, and enjoyed similar luck with Katiyman who was also slow to start but flew home for a length and a quarter win over Fountain
Afterwards Halford stated “they went very hard up front and it set up lovely for him. Shane gave him a super ride, he never panicked and it opened up lovely for him up the straight.
“That’s his ideal ground and that’s his ideal trip. Paul (Rooney) bought him off us as he ran in the colours of my father who passed away. He’s a great supporter and has been very lucky.”
Hat-trick hero Foley’s middle winner was gained on the David Marnane trained Settle For Bay
