Odds on favourite Gone To Russia was still there with a chance though pushed along when breaking down badly at around the furlong pole in the opening Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden at Cork. The spoils in this sprint went to Qatar Racing Limited's Spy Ring
The Michael O'Callaghan-trained and Colin Keane-ridden Spy Ring certainly didn't go un-supported on debut, and the 9/2 chance lived up to her billing by travelling at her ease through the five furlongs.
Asked to go and win her race inside the last, she held on by half a length and a head from Arabian Verse and Fast Lily
"She came from the Breeze-Ups at Doncaster and we liked her. They (previous owners) said she was straightforward and whatever she did today, she'd improve from," stated Keane.
"She was very sharp away today and was very smart."
Unfortunately Gone To Russia was a fatality.
