Farrawaybay wore down Gaspard Du Seuil close home in the Safer Gambling Handicap Hurdle at Navan to give Mark Molloy and Bryan Cooper a winner on the card.

Favourite backers would have been on good terms with themselves as Gaspard Du Seuil travelled nicely a few lengths clear of the pack on the downhill run to the second last.

Farrawaybay moved into second jumping that flight and Cooper urged her to go after the leader.

The deficit was down to less than a length at the last of the 13 flights where Farrawaybay flicked her way through the top of it.

The whips were soon drawn on both and Farrawaybay collared the favourite in the final 50 yards to win going away by a length and a quarter at 13/2.

Gaspard Du Seuil took the runner-up prize at 7/2 and was three and three quarter lengths in front of Fiveaftermidnight (28/1). Fortune Street (50/1) gave his backers a place dividend in fourth.

Molloy said: “She's a very genuine mare and I'm delighted because her owners Mark and Jane Fleming are over today.

“Her brother sells in a couple of hours at Fairyhouse. Her other brother (Galop Marin) won the Grade One in France yesterday, he won that race for the fourth time. It's a good family.

“I always thought going left-handed and a stiffer track would be ideal. We've taken our chances on tighter tracks, wherever the opportunities have come, but I was looking forward to coming to a track like this.

“She's a handicapper so we'll keep looking for suitable opportunities. She probably deserves a little bit of a break now as she's been on the go for a while.

“We'll probably look for something towards the end of the season or early next season. She was the reason I took out my licence.”
