The new 'false' running rail, positioned on the entrance to the home straight at Dundalk for the first time this evening, is likely to become a permanent fixture at the venue, according to Clerk Of The Course Brendan Sheridan.
The new rail, which allows horses 'fan' out across the track, has met with almost universal approval following the opening five races and Sheridan stated “everybody seems to be positive about it. We brought it out 14 yards and it is driving them into the middle of the course. We're going to do it again in Friday evening and as long as everything goes well, we'll keep it like that.”
Leading Dundalk trainer Michael Halford expressed his satisfaction with the rail following Senyuman s win (gained ironically following an Enquiry), saying “the running rail is safer and a lot more pleasant to watch and has been terrific.”
